ELDORARDO dir. Markus Imhoof
When the director of the film (born 1941) was a small boy and lived in Switzerland, his parents brought into their home Giovanna, a young refugee from Italy. But global politics separated the two children. Memories of those events prompted Markus to reflect on the current refugee policy in Europe. The film questions the current system of organised assistance to refugees which casts them in the role of victims and pushes them into a vicious circle of economic interests. This is how the EU's Eldorado looks.
