DAY NINE: WAVING GOODBYE!
We’ve just had 8 exciting days filled with joy and love. Sunday is also a day of rest for us, but don’t worry: before we wrap up the 34th edition of the Malta Festival, there’s still plenty to do!
Let’s start with another chance to visit our paradise beach, which is the climate opera “Sun & Sea” created by Lina Lapelyte, Vaiva Grainyte, and Rugile Barzdziukaite. Its world premiere took place at the 58th Venice Biennale. Carried by its success, it has toured the world, captivating audiences in New York, Paris, Lisbon, London, and Singapore. Now it’s coming to Poznań. Viewers will be able to immerse themselves in a mosaic of stories, internal monologues, dreams, and reflections, sung solo and in chorus by the beachgoers. The first sold-out performances of “Sun & Sea” were a true hit of the Malta repertoire. Three more shows will take place at MTP Hall No. 2 at 3 PM, 4 PM, and 5 PM.
At 6 PM, the Poznań General Music School will host the concert “Hybrydy. Dark Swing” – an intermedia project by Izabella Gustowska, Patryk Lichota, Iza Polit, and Mateusz Rogala. “Dark Swing – in our version – can be anything that gives us freedom. Video sound performance, diverse sounds, moving images, and singing, such a mix, and words, because they are what matter. It’s a universe. It’s both serious and absurd, and funny,” write the creators about their project.
At the Festival Club, it’s time for a grand farewell celebration. From 7 PM to 10 PM, Broodoo Ramses – a DJ and producer currently based in Paris – will perform. His selection is eclectic, energetic, and syncretic, building sonic bridges between club music, pop, and queer identity. Broodoo Ramses can be heard both at underground parties and fashion weeks. As a resident of Rinse France radio, he is slowly gaining recognition in Europe and beyond. Broodoo aims to continue expanding his reach and creative horizons, and his performance at the Malta Festival Club is the next step on that journey. After 10 PM, it’s time for the final Malta silent disco of the year!
At 10 AM and 1:30 PM at the Polish Dance Theatre, there will be two workshops on releasing energy titled “Belly – Fullness of Manifestation and Creation” led by Katarina Hellström. A healthy belly is essential. And it’s not just about health. This is where intuition is born, where the first reactions to various stimuli and situations can be found. In her work, Katarina Hellström always identifies this part of the body as the center and fundamental pillar on the path to understanding oneself, one’s visions, and missions. Now, she will share this knowledge with the participants of Malta.
In the Green Energy Zone, which has a new home in our Festival Club, you can once again take advantage of free screen printing and make yourself a refreshing juice or cocktail using energy generated by your own efforts. At noon, there will be a children’s play “We Take Care of the World” presented by the Kulturka group. Sunday is the last chance to see the exhibitions “11 Years of Kulczyk Foundation,” “For Love!” by Michael Zieliński, “Untangling,” “Inspace Exspace,” “Touch of Hope. For Women and for the Planet,” and “(Fe)male, from Intimacy to Society.”
Detailed information about all events can be found in the “Program” section and the official Malta Festival 2024 app, available for iOS and Android devices.
