DAY THREE: MALTA IN FULL SUN
The Sunday weather is ideal for open-air spectacles, but we also welcome you to cool yourself and contemplate in Poznań’s theatres and the Festival Club.
Already in the morning, the Festival Club on Plac Wolności invites you to broaden your horizons during panel discussions hosted in cooperation with Kulczyk Foundation. At 11:00, the conversation “Archetypes of Femininity” will explore how female patterns present in culture influence our lives and identities. Edyta Żmuda will moderate a discussion featuring Dominika Kulczyk, Izabela Cisek-Malec, and Dr. Alicja Długołęcka. At 12:30, in the panel “Take Your Menopause to the Midwife!” led by Anna Samsel, the topic of women’s health, the body, and bodily awareness during menopause will be tackled by Prof. Grażyna Iwanowicz-Palus, Dr. Małgorzata Wojciechowska, and Dr. Monika Przestrzelska. The series will conclude with “Female and Male Energy” at 14:00, in which Dominika Kulczyk, Dr. Andrzej Depko, Prof. Dariusz Kałka, Mateusz Damięcki, and moderator Kamila Raczyńska will seek balance and understanding between the sexes in today’s world.
Stary Rynek once again offers a chance to connect with nature through the final two performances of the French group Cie Gratte Ciel’s aerial show “RoZéO” – a spectacular display of sky-high acrobatics that blends harness choreography, poetic storytelling, and the elements. Shows begin at 12:00 and 20:00.
From 13:00 to 16:00, don’t miss the creative session “Create, Renew, SCREENPRINT!” – bring your own clothes or bags and give them a second life with self-made prints.
Festival stars Tilda Swinton and Olivier Saillard will meet the audience in the cinema room of Kino Pałacowe (CK Zamek) a few hours before their next performance, just ahead of the screening of the legendary and highly controversial film “Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom”, which will close the festival’s Pier Paolo Pasolini film retrospective. The actress and the art historian will share their emotions and reflections on the work of the titan of Italian cinema. The event starts at 14:00.
At 16:00, Aula Artis will host the final presentation of The Rite of Spring by Italian group Dewey Dell – a sensual, audiovisual ritual combining choreography, lighting, and Igor Stravinsky’s intense, convention-breaking music.
Bishop Jordan’s Bridge will see the final two performances (at 17:00 and 19:30) of “Once Upon a Time in Glutendorf” by Ewa Kaczmarek and Daniel Stachuła – a journey into the origins of Poznań’s folk theatre and a reconstruction of the city’s rich grassroots cultural history.
At 17:00 in the Festival Centre Atrium, Małgorzata Dec will lead a meditative concert on gongs, accompanied by a talk on the role of sound in healing processes and bodily awareness. The event will focus on conscious presence while navigating illness.
At 18:00, the Polish Theatre in Poznań will host the final Malta performance of Piotr Sędkowski’s “Death of Chopin” – a production capturing the composer’s final moments and reflecting on the myth of the genius artist.
In Hall 2 of the Poznań International Fair, don’t miss the penultimate showing of “Embodying Pasolini” – a performance by Tilda Swinton and Olivier Saillard that pays homage to the legendary director by bringing the costumes from his films to life as protagonists on stage.
Sunday at Malta also brings the second evening of powerful concerts. At 21:00 in Hall 6 of the Poznań International Fair, Fink – the British singer-songwriter, producer, and musician – will take the stage with his unique mix of intimate folk and subtle electronics, presenting music from his new album “Beauty in Your Wake”. The evening will open at 19:30 with Robert Cichy – singer, guitarist, and two-time Fryderyk Award winner – known for forging his own style based on blues techniques.
Later, it’s time to dance. From 20:00 to 22:00, the Local Girls Stage collective will take over the DJ booth, followed by DJ DĖMĖ (Demetrio Castellucci) from 22:00 to midnight – composer, sound designer, and member of Dewey Dell, whose DJ style mirrors his group’s core: spontaneous, visceral, and body-focused.
At 21:00 in Pasaż Quadro at Stary Rynek, another evening of the Women’s Cinema series will feature Aleksandra Terpińska’s film “Other People” – an intense, musically distinct portrait of class disparity and everyday entanglements in Warsaw. After the screening, a conversation will take place with the director, actress Marta Ojrzyńska, and psychologist Dr. Anna Kubiak from SWPS University, in a comfortable space arranged by VOX.
At 21:30 on Polanka by Lake Malta, don’t miss the final showing of “ULTRAFICCIÓN no. 1 / Shards of Time” by the El Conde de Torrefiel collective – an immersive production exploring the connection between body, consciousness, and reality in a digitally uncertain world. Please note: due to bad weather forecasts, Monday’s show has been cancelled, making Sunday your last chance to see it.
Throughout the day, you’ll be able to spot the La Dinamo bicycle orchestra around the city – their mobile funk show will fill the streets with irresistible sound and rhythm.
See you there – let’s meet for Love!
