MALTA DAY TWO: WHAT’S IN STORE?

Orhan Pamuk will talk about his work. Dominika Kulczyk will speak about feminine spirituality. Plus, a party with the electro icon, DJ Tiga, and a documentary, though not biographical, portrait of Andrzej Seweryn. September 8, the second day of the Malta Festival, promises to be fantastic.
At noon at the Festival Center, UAP Atrium, the esteemed Turkish writer and Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk will discuss his work with the host Michał Nogaś and the gathered audience. Two hours later, at 2:00 PM at Kino Muza, the premiere screening of two episodes of Dominika Kulczyk’s series Soul Sisters. Awakening will take place. The series explores feminine spirituality, drawing upon the archetype of Mother Earth, participation in ceremonies and rituals that refer to forgotten ancient traditions, and fascinations with herbalism, astrology, and alchemy.
“The film is very good, original, brilliantly edited and shot, with great pacing. But above all, the HERO is extraordinary – a cosmic character.” This is how Grażyna Torbicka describes I Am a Fictional Character, a documentary, though not biographical, portrait of Andrzej Seweryn. Directed by Arkadiusz Bartosiak, the film can be seen at 5:00 PM at Kino Muza. An hour later, another must-see on the Malta Festival program. At 6:00 PM at the Festival Club, you can watch What a Fashionable Lady Should Know, a one-woman show by Katarzyna Kołeczek directed by Agata Puszcz. In the performance, you’ll find answers to questions like “What would a woman do if she had to do literally everything she’s told?” and “What do fashion, society, magazines, and cosmetic companies demand of her?”
After the performance, you can head to a concert by Londoners Kerala Dust, whose music is a fiery blend of psychedelia, blues, and techno. The concert starts at 9:00 PM at Tama. Or, you could stay at the Festival Club for the rest of the day, as the evening promises a solid party. At 8:00 PM, Canadian dance music master, DJ and producer Tiga will perform. And at 10:00 PM, it’s time for a silent disco, the perfect opportunity to lose yourself in the dance, immersed in music and surrounded by fellow dancing festival-goers.
