MALTA FESTIVAL 2026 ANNOUNCES THE FIRST ARTISTS OF THE MUSIC SCENE
The return of Beirut to Poznań, the British indie rock legends Two Door Cinema Club, and the lyrical Benjamin Clementine. We are revealing the first music artists of the 36th edition of Malta Festival and inviting everyone to Poznań.
The Music Scene of Malta Festival 2026 is a four-day “festival within a festival”, with three artists representing different musical worlds and aesthetics performing each evening. We are pleased to announce the first performers who will set the tone for the concert programme and appear at the Poznań International Fair on 25–28 June.
The music programme of the 36th edition of Malta Festival will be inaugurated on 25 June 2026 by the British vocalist, composer, and poet Benjamin Clementine. Winner of the Mercury Prize for the album At Least For Now (2015), whose tracks have gathered tens of millions of streams on Spotify, he quickly became a favorite among critics and audiences worldwide. Despite his global success, each of his concerts remains an intimate experience, full of subtle nuances, emotional depth, and a distinctive stage presence often compare to a theatrical encounter. His baritone voice, combining drama with delicacy, invites the audience on a lyrical journey in which listeners become part of the artist’s personal story.
Saturday evening, 27 June 2026, will mark the grand return of Beirut, the project of Zach Condon, to Malta Festival. Nearly two decades after his concert at the Festival Club – and in the year of his 20th artistic anniversary – the creator of the cult album Gulag Orkestar (2006) comes back to Poznań. His music, based on a unique blend of brass and string instruments, accordion, and acoustic sounds, has captivated listeners around the world for years. His latest release, A Study of Losses (2025), created as a musical illustration for a Compagnie Giraff performance, expands his aesthetic with choir, ambient elements, and subtle inspirations from early music, creating a moving story of memory and loss.
The finale of this year’s Music Scene, on 28 June 2026, will belong to Two Door Cinema Club, one of the most influential indie-rock bands of the 21st century. Songs such as What You Know, Undercover Martyn and Something Good Can Work have become generational anthems, while the trio’s energetic concerts have been conquering the world’s biggest festival stages for years. The band will visit Poznań in the year of the 15th anniversary of their debut album Tourist History (2010), which cemented their status as one of the most important acts of contemporary alternative music. Their concert at Malta Festival is set to be one of the most dynamic events of this edition.
These three concerts are only the beginning of the Malta Festival music programme. Further announcements – including the Friday headliner – will be revealed soon.
