Theatre, art, music, and dance enthusiasts, make room in your calendars! Malta Festival 2024 unveils the next program cards, bringing award-winning theatrical performances, spectacular art installations, thrilling concerts, and plenty of attractions for the whole family. Here’s what we have prepared for the upcoming festival:

LOVER’S COMPLAINT, Mira Mańka, Teatr Polski
“Lover’s Complaint” by Mira Mańka reinterprets William Shakespeare’s “A Lover’s Complaint” in a unique way, using a choir composed of both deaf and hearing individuals. Sign language and spoken language combine to create a new form of expression.

TIMISIEN – ARCHITECTS OF AIR, Plac Wolności
The “TIMISIEN” installation by Architects of Air is an interactive space composed of labyrinths and domes that manipulate light and color, creating an extraordinary visual experience. The installation impresses with its scale and beauty, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a world of fantasy and discovery.

MELODRAMAT, Anna Smolar, Teatr Nowy
“Melodramat” is a play directed by Anna Smolar, based on themes of addiction and codependency. The play delves into the lives of individuals entangled in toxic relationships, portraying their dilemmas and emotional challenges.

LEAR, Janusz Opryński, Teatr Polski
In the play “LEAR” directed by Janusz Opryński, Andrzej Seweryn interprets the character of King Lear, showcasing his inner turmoil and the tragic consequences of decisions made under the influence of pride and naivety.

JALEN NGONDA, Tama
Jalen Ngonda, known for his classic soul, will perform at Tama club. The American singer is acclaimed for his emotional performances and deep voice, and his appearance at the Glastonbury Festival and a completely sold-out UK tour confirm the artist’s growing popularity on the music scene.

DOTYK ZA DOTYK. DANSING, Katarzyna Sikora, Tama
“Dotyk za Dotyk. Dansing” is an interactive dance performance by Katarzyna Sikora, exploring and celebrating movement as a means of expression and a tool for bringing people closer together. The performance unites different generations on the dance floor, offering a dynamic and energetic atmosphere.

JESTEM POSTACIĄ FIKCYJNĄ, Andrzej Seweryn, Kino Muza
This documentary observes the daily artistic activities of Andrzej Seweryn over the course of a year. The film showcases both his passion for theatre and his personal reflections, providing a unique insight into the life of one of Poland’s greatest actors.

KASPAR, Teatr Biuro Podróży, Plac Wolności
“Kaspar” is an outdoor performance by Teatr Biuro Podróży, telling the story of Kaspar Hauser, the mysterious “wild child.” The play explores themes of isolation, the search for identity, and human curiosity, presenting the impact of these factors on the main character’s life.

KERALA DUST, Tama
Kerala Dust is a British band known for their fusion of electronic and rock music, acclaimed for their unique approach. At the Malta Festival, they will present material from their latest album “Violet Drive,” inspired by cultural journeys between Berlin and Zurich.
