BARK is an outdoor performance by the Nordic collective Acting for Climate, created directly within a natural environment. The work brings together elements of contemporary circus, dance and physical theatre, building an experience grounded in the relationship between people and their surroundings.
BARK will be created in direct contact with its site – in Old Brewery Park, where trees, soil and the surrounding space become equal elements of the performance. They do not function as scenography, but as co-creators of the work.
The choreography is developed through interaction with nature and its structure. The performers use trees as points of reference for movement, building actions between them, around them and with them. The performance combines group acrobatics, vertical dance and physical theatre, creating a composition that unfolds in space and time.
At the core of the project lies the idea of relationship – not only between the performers, but also between humans and the environment. BARK invites the audience to experience nature through the body and the senses, proposing a shift in perspective: the human is not an observer, but part of a larger system defined by interdependence.
The performance evolves in response to its surroundings – adapting to the space, the conditions and the presence of the audience. Each iteration is different, shaped by its specific context and dynamics. BARK functions as an experience that does not separate art from environment, but brings them together into a shared act.
