The Book Rave built around Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Dream Count is a shared experience of reading, listening and talking about literature that explores relationships, intimacy and the emotional dependencies of the contemporary world. Instead of a traditional author talk, Malta Festival invites audiences into a more intimate encounter — one built around closeness, presence and a shared connection to the text.
Reading can also become an event. The Malta Festival Book Rave was created for those who want to experience literature collectively – not only by listening to a conversation about a book, but by entering the text together with others. The format moves away from the traditional division between stage and audience, shifting the focus from simply discussing literature to sharing the experience of being around it: listening, reading, talking and spending time together.
The starting point for the event will be Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a writer whose work has long explored womanhood, relationships, love, power and the emotional structures of contemporary life. Participants will receive access to selected excerpts via the Filia Story app, making the experience open and accessible to everyone.
The event will be hosted by Michał Nogaś, who will speak with translator Kaja Gucio not only about the novel itself, but also about translation – how Adichie’s language and sensibility resonate in Polish. The entire evening has been conceived as a calm, intimate experience shaped around literature, music and shared presence.
