DOWN by Mélissa Guex is a duet in which movement and sound remain in a close, dynamic relationship. The choreography unfolds in direct contact with the rhythm of live percussion, building tension and gradually shifting the way space and the presence of others are perceived.

The performance takes place among the audience, without a clear division between stage and spectators. Movement and rhythm act directly on the body, influencing pace, focus and modes of response, shifting attention from observation to experience. 

The starting point is the state of “down” — the moment after intensity, when the body loses balance and perception begins to shift. Rather than overcoming it, the performance lingers in this state, developing it as a shared space of action. In this process, the choreography remains open, responding to the site, the situation and the presence of the audience, taking a different shape each time.

DOWN operates somewhere between a performance and an event — built on repetition, energy and direct impact. It resists a single interpretation, unfolding instead in relation to what happens here and now.
