The latest performance by Monika Błaszczak. Forefathers’ Eve II becomes an encounter with foreign souls and our own shadows. Inspired by Mickiewicz’s ritual, the Polish Dance Theatre transforms the ceremony into a space of community, relationships and confrontation with what is living, absent and returning.
Bodies set in motion create a time-space for uncanny presences and questions about closeness, memory and shared experience. The creators invite the audience to rediscover Forefathers’ Eve anew.
In Adam Mickiewicz’s Forefathers’ Eve II, we encounter foreign souls and our own shadows: while following the play’s characters, we encounter ourselves, entangled in ambiguous desires and searching for connection. The ritual described by the Polish bard becomes a space of encounter between the living and the un/dead, as well as an opportunity to renew human connection within the safe confines of a staged encounter. Bodies set into motion during the ritual create a time-space to which we invite all peculiar absences and presences. We invite you as well: join the ritual to experience it anew!
