Hecate is one of the most fascinating and multifaceted figures of the ancient world. Most commonly associated with magic, witches, and guidance through the underworld, her significance reaches far beyond the dark imagery reinforced by popular culture.
During the workshop, we will explore Hecate’s many dimensions, both the well known and those less frequently present in stories about the goddess. We will examine her symbolism, historical roots, and the meaning of crossroads, boundaries, and transitional moments with which she is inseparably connected.
We will also reflect on how the archetype of Hecate may manifest in contemporary life, in relationships, creative processes, crises, moments of change, and the search for one’s own identity. Together, we will consider how the figure of the Guide can support us in building agency, deepening intuition, and finding our own path, both individually and within a community.
Led by: Dr Anna Jankowiak – archaeologist, Doctor of Humanities, columnist, and science communicator, known online as Wiedźma od Wiedzy (The Knowledge Witch). She is also a jury member of the Archaeological Sensations poll organised by the magazine Archeologia Żywa.
We kindly ask participants to bring old magazines and newspapers, which we will use to create collages during the workshop.
