Three dance études come together in a single stage event inspired by the pioneers of contemporary dance who transformed the way movement and its presence on stage are understood. The performance combines three distinct choreographic languages into a story centred on the body, rhythm and the relationship with space.
Ritual, Emergence and Broken Forms lead the audience from the ritual energy of the group, through almost imperceptible movement emerging from silence, to actions built around a scenographic structure that becomes an active part of the performance. The project was created in collaboration between the Antrakt UAP Research Group and the Student Research Group at the Department of Dance and Gymnastics at AWF Poznań.
Three dance études come together as a single stage event inspired by the work of pioneers of contemporary dance who transformed the way movement and its presence on stage are understood. The performance combines three distinct choreographic approaches into a cohesive whole focused on the body, its relationship with space, and scenographic forms that actively shape the action on stage.
In Ritual, the stage becomes a space of ceremony, where movement is built through repetition, rhythm and collective energy, while a central figure takes the lead and guides the group action. Emergence develops out of silence and stillness – movement appears gradually, almost imperceptibly, as the bodies operate on the threshold between tension and release, creating a calm yet steadily intensifying process. Broken Forms, in turn, focuses on the relationship with a stage construction that defines the framework for action – the performers interact with it, transforming both the structure itself and its meaning over the course of the étude.
Antrakt UAP Research Group is a Poznań-based artistic collective working at the intersection of performance art, scenography and spatial practices. Their work focuses on creating artistic events and experimental stage forms, with particular interest in projects emerging between different artistic disciplines. The Student Research Group at the Department of Dance and Gymnastics at the Poznań University of Physical Education was established in 2018 to explore dance in relation to various academic fields, while also developing projects at the intersection of art and research, including performances, lectures, workshops and academic conferences.
