The Kulczyk Foundation speaks out on issues that are important but often excluded from public discourse—simply because talking about them makes many people uncomfortable. Because menstruation remains a taboo topic, girls are often taught to be ashamed of it. If something is hidden, it may seem like it should be hidden. And yet, periods are a natural part of life—including school life. For some girls, lack of access to menstrual products sadly means missing out on education. Research by the Kulczyk Foundation shows that one in five schoolgirls in Poland has missed classes due to not having a sanitary pad.

This issue—along with the facts and myths surrounding menstruation—is the focus of an exhibition using photographs by the duo Magda Wunsche and Aga Samsel. It also presents selected data from the Kulczyk Foundation’s survey on how Polish people perceive menstruation, enriched with commentary and broader context that help distinguish facts from harmful misconceptions.

And you—how do you perceive menstruation?

Is it natural?
