Elżbieta Cherezińska is a theater expert and author of historical novels. She debuted as a co-author (along with Szewach Weiss) of the biography of the former Israeli ambassador to Poland, titled “On One Hand, On the Other Hand.” She has written numerous historical books, including “North Way” “Game of Bones,” and “Legion.”

I have trouble writing about writing.

The private life of books, the one that begins beyond me, is far more fascinating. So, I prefer to listen to what readers say about them. Sometimes I’m surprised, but I try not to interfere, and I also avoid answering questions about unwritten stories. After all, no one will believe in endings other than the ones they’ve imagined. Books, like good gossip, live their own lives. The more I write, the harder it is to talk. When I have to say something about myself, I hide behind my books. I’m just a comma in a sentence I’ve written.
