Who are we?

We are called “Improvised Musical” and we are a group of improvisers. We have been performing regularly since 2015 at the Warsaw Comedy Club.

On a daily basis, in addition to improvisation, we also do comedy in the broad sense – stand-up, sketches, as well as acting, voice-over, scriptwriting and many others.

How did it start?

We started rehearsals in the fall of 2014 at the then newly established Warsaw Comedy Club at Plac Zbawiciela, after Aleksandra Markowska came back from improvisation school in the US and, inspired by the musical improvisation shows she had seen in Chicago – including the famous Baby Wants Candy – decided to start a group that would do similar things. She invited pianist and vocalist Joanna Kucharczyk to collaborate musically. And so a team of improvisers was created, who began to meet regularly and work intensively on an original format, which premiered in January 2015 at the Comedy Club.

What do we do?

We perform in the form of a long storyline, recital or short scenes. Our performances are entirely improvised in front of the audience. As you can expect in theatrical improvisation – all scenes and the storyline, as well as the lyrics and melodies of songs and choreography are improvised in front of the audience. It should be emphasized that the music is also improvised live.

Since the beginning of our existence, we have filled our native stage at the Comedy Club, but we also successfully manage to entertain and move audiences in other places in Poland and abroad, we have played, among others, at the Norblin Factory, the Comedy Theater, the SPATiF Club, the Magnet Theater in New York, BIG in Barcelona, Boom Chicago in Amsterdam.
