Malta Festival is reborn with new, feminine energy! The theme of this year’s edition, the first led by Dominika Kulczyk, is “For Love!” From September 7th to 15th, Poznań will host exceptional theater performances, concerts, urban spectacles, unconventional debates, and inspiring meetings.

Malta, for 34 years, has been an indispensable point on Poland’s cultural map. This year, it returns to the streets, inviting artists who will transform the city center into a living work of art. On the first day, we will witness the multi-kilometer “DOMINOES,” an ephemeral work that will enchant the heart of Poznań.

This year’s edition will feature world-renowned stars! In September, Oscar-winning Tim Robbins will visit Poznań with the Greek vaudeville “Topsy Turvy.” The Actors’ Gang Theater, already acclaimed by Los Angeles audiences, will now captivate our festival audience in Poland for the first time.

But that’s not all. Malta Festival 2024 attendees will be among the few to see acclaimed performances that offer both artistic beauty and space for reflection on nature. Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and Radouan Mriziga will present “Il Cimento dell’Armonia e dell’Inventione,” and we are building a beach at the Poznań International Fair for the climate opera “Sun & Sea,” awarded at the Venice Biennale.

The offerings from the Polish scene are equally strong. Krzysztof Warlikowski and Nowy Teatr will come to Poznań straight from their European tour with the play “Elisabeth Costello. Seven Lectures and Five Fables with a Moral,” based on the novel by John Maxwell Coetzee.

Malta also means music. This year, we invite festival-goers to the stage by Lake Malta, where the festival has its roots. The audience will be moved by the extraordinary music from the film “Chłopi,” composed by Łukasz L.U.C Rostkowski & REBEL BABEL Film Orchestra, and the concert of the indie-folk duo Hollow Coves, presenting their music about the fragility of life and the beauty of nature.

And there’s more to come! Stay with us to discover more impressive program highlights.

See you at Malta!
